Zeta Halo and the Banished Campaign

An evidence-led reconstruction of the struggle for Installation 07 and the limits of battlefield perspective.

LESSON 01

A Campaign Already in Progress

Reconstruct events without assuming the protagonist witnesses their beginning.

Arrival after catastrophe

Halo Infinite presents a conflict whose decisive opening events occurred before the playable ground campaign. The UNSC presence has been shattered, survivors are dispersed, and the Banished hold the initiative when the Master Chief returns to action.

Perspective has boundaries

A playable viewpoint supplies strong evidence for encountered events but not automatic knowledge of everything happening across the installation. Audio records, survivor testimony, environmental evidence, and later reference material extend the reconstruction.

LESSON 02

Installation 07 as Place and System

Study Zeta Halo as both terrain and inherited infrastructure.

The ring shapes operations

Installation 07 is not a neutral battlefield. Its broken geography, transport network, interior systems, and Forerunner controls constrain movement and create strategic objectives for every actor present.

Control remains partial

Holding territory on the ring does not equal complete understanding of the installation. Banished occupation, human resistance, and interaction with Forerunner systems operate at different scales and should not be collapsed into a single claim of ownership.

LESSON 03

Rebuilding an Operational Picture

Combine evidence types while preserving uncertainty.

Corroboration over collection

Finding many records is not enough. Historians compare time, location, speaker, and observed consequences to determine which claims reinforce one another and which remain isolated.

Absence is not proof

A missing character, silent unit, or unseen region may support a question but rarely proves a definitive outcome. Campaign reconstruction should state what is confirmed, what is inferred, and what remains unresolved.
